Meet the Teacher
Kathryn Council is the Founder and Director of Good Soil Learning Center. A passionate educator with over a decade of experience as an English teacher in both Indianapolis and New Jersey, she has also served as a school principal and an instructional coach. Kathryn is a certified K-6 teacher in the state of New Jersey and an award-winning educator known for her data-driven approach and consistent academic success in the classroom.

With deep roots in education—coming from a family of educators including her parents and siblings and relatives—Kathryn has dedicated much of her life to literacy and early childhood development. She taught her first son to read by 20 months and is now nurturing her 16-month-old’s early language skills, underscoring her belief in the power of learning from the very beginning.

In addition to her work in education, Kathryn serves as a Youth Leader at her church and remains actively involved in ministry. Her leadership style is grounded in compassion, service, and community. While she has led successful academic teams and developed curriculum with a focus on English, she has recently chosen to step away from school administration to prioritize her family and ministry. She finds great fulfillment in nurturing children at an early age and continues to be a dedicated servant leader in both her home and community.

Our Story
Good Soil Learning Center was born from a dream shared over breakfast — a heartfelt conversation between Kathryn and her husband, Jared that grew into a calling. With a strong passion for Christian education and a desire to close early literacy gaps, especially those widened during the COVID-19 pandemic, they set out to create a place where children could truly thrive — academically, spiritually, and emotionally.

Kathryn and Jared envisioned a nurturing space where high-quality instruction meets faith-based values, and where children are loved, supported, and challenged to grow. As parents with high standards for their own children’s education, they wanted to build a place they would feel confident sending them — one that reflects their beliefs, their commitment to excellence, and passion for helping every child reach their full potential.
At Good Soil Learning Center, The Council family are excited to provide a warm, engaging environment where children can grow, learn, and explore their potential. They are dedicated to support each child’s unique journey through personalized attention, small class sizes, and a curriculum rooted in love, learning, and faith.
